“After weeks of planning, painting, and preparing, the final step in the decorating process arrived – installation day. With great anticipation and excitement, my husband and I left the house in the capable and talented hands of our designer. Several hours later we received the call to return home. When we walked through the front door into the foyer, the vista into our living room and dining room had gone through an unbelievable transformation. At any minute we expected the cameras to start rolling for an episode on HGTV as we stood oohing and ahing in the doorway.
Everything was perfect. The new furniture and accessories were tastefully mixed with our family heirlooms and other treasured pieces creating an eclectic yet modern look. Rearranging the room, decluttering, and using smaller scale furniture made the room airy and spacious. As we perused the room, the attention to detail was amazing. The curio cabinet shelves were filled with tastefully arranged vignettes that showcased our collectible items.
Framing the whole room were the beautiful window treatments. Adjacent to the living room, the dining room’s new furniture arrangement and rouge color complimented my grandmother’s antique mahogany dining room set. It was a moment in time that we will always remember.
The rooms have been finished now for a few months, and when we walk into our newly decorated rooms, we still find ourselves having to take a second glance just to make sure that this is really our home. “Like I’m sure many people are, we were reluctant to hire an interior designer – assuming it would be too expensive and that he/she would walk into our home saying things like “Oh my, why did you choose THAT?” So needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised when both of our assumptions were wrong.
